PRIMARCH: VULKAN THE DRAGON LORD
After Vulkan was stabbed with fulgerite it was believed that he lost his perpetual ability. He survived this and was last seen fighting the Ork warboss known as The Beast, in which he tackles the beast into a colossal plasma reactor.... (official lore)
...(now the unofficial lore) as Vulkan's body was ripped apart by the blast every cell in his body was ignited and mutated from the radiation which caused the ‘return’ of his perpetual ability. His body kept materialising in random places but then vanishing again, flickering in and out of reality. While his ‘soul’ was hovering out of existence in what he thought was the warp he heard a deep, wise voice speaking to him in a foreign tongue that he’d never heard before yet understood as if he’d spoken it his entire life. It spoke of breathtaking strength even greater than that of the Primarchs and maybe even the Emperor of mankind himself. Vulkan believed this to be a god of chaos and refused it at first, then the being showed Vulkan flashbacks of his life and how he was guided to Nocturne by the being who also granted his perpetual ability and with a destiny in mind for the young child. The being then promised him that he will full fill his destiny and gave him the body to complete his task. As Vulkan began to materialise again he saw himself grow massively in size his skin became hard and cracked forming scales.

He knew he could not return to his home in this state, he needed to be cautious and calculated in order to be able to lead his sons once again. He must scout out his new surroundings, a derelict and Barron unstable wasteland with shifting grounds and immense heat geysers. He try’s to take a step but crumples, unused to his new physique but, as a Primarch, he was a fast learner and soon bounded across the landscape. He took a wrong footing on a section of crust that gave way and a geyser erupted and spewed molten lava high into the air engulfing Vulkan. Expecting the shearing pain of being burnt alive and having to regenerate he was shocked to find that although he felt the immense heat enveloped him there was no pain and no marks left but instead a burning energy inside. He felt it rising up inside him. The energy erupted out of his mouth in a massive burst of flames that melted the rock beneath he’s feat. He now felt the power roaring through him and was terrified of what it could do.

If Vulkan was to return home he would have to be prepared, he set about to find what was useful on this molten planet. Years past but Vulkans resolve never broke even in his isolation he remained stable. He’d begun harvesting the raw materials in the planets crusts, forging metals and alloys. He’d spent many of his lives mastering his craft, though now he had to master his new tools. It wasn’t long until he had built a stable fortress that would survive any of the seismic activity on his new world. In many ways it was just like his home world of Nocturne. Even with his massive size his hands remained nimble. He engineered plasma reactors, intricate armour and unbreakable contraptions. Though as the millennia passed he began hearing voices. Familiar voices, that of his most loyal warriors, his Draak guard. He feared that his granite mind was finally starting to crack

CASSIAN VAUGHN
Cassian Vaughn was the first Lord Commander of the eighteenth legion and was crippled by a massive Ork warlord. He was then encased in a sarcophagus and turned into a dreadnought. however dreadnoughts must spend most their time dormant as it requires immense mental strain to control a dreadnought. However one of Vulkan's 9 artefacts, the Unbound Flame was Incorporated into his Redmptor dreadnought which was capable of keeping him conscious all the time no matter how much pain he goes through. 'both a wondrous and terrible device'.
